A brave make-over here in that what had become a rather shabby but essentially decent local boozer has been refurbished to be exactly what it must have been 20 years ago. It’s almost as if every table and chair, every floorboard and surface has been magically renewed while nothing has actually changed - and so it cements its position as the only proper pub in Ashtead.

It's the smallest of this overblown village’s, three pubs challengingly positioned opposite the over-rated if externally attractive Leg of Mutton and Cauliflower and has a decent selection of real ales, lots of yellow fizz on draught, and good value and wholesome, if uninspired, formula food. The furnishings are comfortable enough, the staff cheerful enough and the garden at the back big enough. A good local for local people and if not meriting a special journey, worth a look if you are passing by.

How to find the Brewery Inn pub

From Ashtead Station head into Ashtead up Woodfield Lane crossing Barnett Wood Lane after a couple of hundred yards. Just keep following Woodfield Lane as it bears slightly to the right and another 800 yards or will bring you to The Street where the Brewery Inn will be on the right hand corner (and the Leg of Mutton and Cauliflower opposite on the other side of the road).
