Nestled snugly in the centre of Bath, The Old Green Tree is a pub unknowing by passed by visitors to the city but embraced by locals.

Split into three sections, the front room is a lounge, the back room a snug, both served by a central bar which is frequented by most customers. Low ceilings make for an intimate setting, wooden panelling, old pictures and coat of arms plaques on the walls give the place a feel of yester year.

Friendly, bar staff offer a range of real ales and cider as well as Budvar lager and an extensive range of spirits. “Pitchfork is our best seller” says the portly barman to an indecisive customer. On this visit Proper Ansome (Clearwater brewery) is also popular but can’t complete with the aptly names Old Green Tree Ale (Blindmans brewery). Broadoak cider is in high demand as is another guest cider being dispenses out of a barrel. Half pints are served in handled mini pint glasses.

The only thing wrong with this pub is the gentleman’s tie behind the bar but this customer will definitely be back, not only to give the man a chance to redeem himself but also see whats on offer.
