The Ship is a pleasant two-bar pub, looking for all the world as if it is located in a small village, rather than where it really is, a few minutes from Bedford's bland town centre. The large left hand bar is the marginally more modern and plain of the two; consequently, as you might imagine, we prefer the right hand bar, with it's low beams and giant fireplace. It's a very nice place to while away your time, even if our afternoon visit found it virtually empty. A fair selection of Greene King beers, a good wine list and attentive service add up to make this a fine pub in an area admittedly not short on competition.
