The Crab & Lobster looks a traditional enough seaside pub, bedecked in flowers and sporting a couple of lifebelts above the entrance, but it’s become a bit of a victim of its own success, being an attraction in itself for its awards, particularly for food. Nevertheless, as we thirstily rounded the bend of the coastal path that took us into its forecourt, we were grateful enough of its welcoming ambience and its excellent range of well kept beers. Even during the end-of-season lunchtime we were there, the restaurant appeared busy and the pub had obviously attracted tourists from all over, given the range of accents in our hearing. Outside in the garden, just about overlooking the sea, we sat for a quieter pint and a smoke watching the tourists’ buses come and go. The locals here seemed predominately young mums with small kids, but they could not have been too badly off given the prices of the bar snacks. we were a bit horrified to be paying nearly £14 for two crab sandwiches, but when they arrived we were knocked out by the sheer amount and the quality of the fresh crab. Not a pub for a budget family lunch nor, we would think, for a blokey session. A tourist-trap, perhaps, but one that offers a certain quality, albeit for a certain price.

Food Review:

What we saw of the menu didn’t look that extensive, but obviously majored on crab and lobster dishes. If the sandwiches we had we anything to go by, then the freshness, quality and quantity were very good. Looking at the prices, however, clearly indicates that nothing was coming out cheap.

Great pub this on the Island and right near a decent beach in Bembridge. It's a little difficult to find but brown signs point you in the right direction - if you do get lost please don't give up, it's worth the hunt.
Big group of us with dog and kids had a great Sunday lunch there and whilst other dishes were available it's the fish dishes that stand out on the menu. Particularly impressive were the Fish mixed grill and of course the lobster. Don't expect much change from a significant sum however.
Beer? Well we had Greene King IPA, Doom Bar or the more adventurous Goddard's Fuggle dee dum. All well kept and served delightfully.
Staff good to excellent, path to the beach nearby, plenty of space to park, dine and drink - all in all a cracking pub and a whisker away from a 5 pinter. And it is price that stops it getting there.
