The Dolphin is a classic Surrey country boozer. One of the Young's stable, it's ales include the standard Ram offerings as well as regular guests including Butcombe and Bombardier. A lot of the charm of this pub comes from its low ceilings, narrow passageways and two large fireplaces. The service is friendly, the beer well kept and their food is also excellent quality pub grub. They shut their kitchen for a refurb in the latter stages of 2010 and we're relieved and delighted to see that the new restaurant section at the back doesn't look out of place with the rest of the pub. Out front there are an assortment of chairs with a hedge separating punters from the quiet street, whilst out back you'll find a large garden ideal for families. The locals are all friendly and chatty, and the pub really comes into its own on live music nights. One guitarist that we saw equipped the drinkers with rattles, tambourines and cowbells causing a fabulous atmosphere and encouraged everyone to play along. But this pub is just as good at whatever time of the week you visit, and it's also a great base for the Bonfire Night fireworks at Brockham nearby.

How to find the The Dolphin Inn pub

Drive out of Dorking on the A25, at the first roundabout turn right following signs to Betchworth. Take a left at the T-junction and then almost immediately take the awkward right turn towards Leigh. The pub is down here about half a mile on the left opposite the church.
