Penny Black, Bicester
FancyaPint?'s review...
Like a lot of Wetherspoon pubs, it's impressive from the outside, but predictable from the inside. As a former post office, the grand entrance makes way for a comfortable and cosy pub, but the layout looks as if it might suffer from claustrophobia when busy. Service was very friendly and the chain's usual excellent selection of ales were present and correct. Food wise, too, although you never expect outstanding food, it was perfectly tasty and excellent value. Add a large beer garden out back and this makes for a perfect adequate pit-stop while negotiating the shops on Bicester High Street.
