This is a lovely refurbished pub in the quiet little village of Bramfield. It's a foodie pub, but hasn't fallen into the identikit trappings of the gastro pub and has a nice modern feel. They support local brewers such as Buntingford, Tring and Red Squirrel and have four hand pulled ales and we've not been disappointed with any, particularly liking the Buntingford brews. The Wine list is well chosen and my wife has been in raptures over their reds. The food might seem slightly on the pricy side but we can't fault the quality. The sunday roast was excellent, this isn't just nuked or boil in the bag. During the 2010 World Cup they also had a South African themed Barbeque along with an outdoor screen. They have one large TV inside which they do ocassionally screen sports on like the Six Nations. Since it opened it has filled up nicely and has good returning custom (including us) which is always a good sign. It has a Beer garden and a car park which isn't huge but you can park on the road as well. Next to the pub is a Deli selling local produce and Artisan foods. Slightly on the pricey side but it's all quality stuff. They have themed evenings and there's a beer fest in August, and there are some easy country paths from the village.

How to find the The Grandison pub

It's in Bramfield so it's a bit isolated. We do walk to it across the fields from Hertford. The nearest station would be Hertford North or Watton at Stone. It can't be walked, but if you have a few you may not want to walk back so a car would be needed.
