The George Hotel, West Bay
There are four pubs/bars in West Bay, but there is not much to choose between them. Three of them, including The George, are tithed to Palmers brewery and serve the same choice of ales and have similar daily seafood specials. What sets The George apart is its location, right in the middle of West Bay - next to the only bus stop in the town, and its pool table. We understand the pub and hotel underwent a major refurbishment at the end of 2007 and is markedly improved. Certainly the bar with the pool table has a newish look to it, and with darts and a quiz machine is overall more popular with the younger drinkers. The other bar, next to the restaurant, has a more authentic, older feel. For those wishing to brave the seagulls, there is outdoor seating. The service was good and the landlord jolly. Overall, a decent, unremarkable boozer for tourists and locals alike.

Food served up cold, and side dishes and gravy brought out over 10 minutes after main part of meals had been had been served. We were over charged by £25.00, management bad mannered and rude when we complained about it. On our return home I looked the george up on tripadvisor, it seems that many other people have had a similar experience, Won't be visiting again unless there's a change of management
