We do like to be beside the seaside, and after a stroll along the beach what could be better than a leisurely walk down the pier? For the purposes of this review the answer is nothing. This walking lark is thirsty work though so finding a handy drinking establishment amongst the fun fair and amusement arcade at the end of what is now handily known as Brighton Pier proved to be a winner. Horatio's might not stand out if it was on dry land, but with a generous outside space overlooking the sea really becomes a contender. Sufferers of ornithophobia may instead prefer to settle into one of the booths inside to avoid the icy stare of some heavyweight seagulls. There is nothing exciting in beer terms, but there is good value to be had from 4-pint jugs of the usual suspects. Our attempts at pouring this into some glasses produced overwhelming evidence that we're better suited to being in front, rather than behind the bar. Go on, give into pier pressure (sorry).
