The Victory Inn is a familiar sight to Brighton shoppers and tourists. Externally, it's rather striking, handsome tiled pub, inside it's a no-nonsense local, with simple wooden tables and chairs and a real fire. There's a rather good, ever-changing range of ales on the hand pumps, an excellent cider (especially during the occasional cheese cider-themed events) and plenty of other drink if you're not in the mood for traditional tipples. Service is fast and friendly and there's simple pub grub to go with the drink. it's not a large place, so it does get crowded quite easily - the large table in the back room doesn't really help- although there is a loungey room upstairs to help take the strain. There's also occasional live music, WiFi and a late licence. The Victory is the exemplar of a city-centre traditional pub - others should take note.
