The Black Horse is a small village pub with a friendly, chatty and relaxing atmosphere. One of our favourite aspects of this pub is the way in which it can make the diners and drinkers entirely oblivious of each other by situating them at opposite ends of the pub. The last time we visited here, the landlord welcomed us at a bar offering local brews as well as more famous ales. We found plenty of seats of offer, an enormous fireplace (with a large flat screen TV above it, switched off) and a good choice of pub games including cribbage and dominoes. Food is a big thing around here with pubs so it's no big surprise to see some excellent locally-sourced food and wine on the menu, but it's just as good to see the food not getting in the way of retaining the building's integrity as a pub first and foremost.
