From the song by Half Man Half Biscuit (For What is Chatteris), we thought that the town itself would be an idyllic retreat from the modern world. Sadly this isn't quite the case and Walk the Dog is the best the place gets (in pub terms, anyway). In fairness though, it's not a bad little establishment. The decor is a little utilitarian, but there is a nice fireplace, and a it's cosy enough overall. There is a small handful of real ales and the amount of CAMRA related publications dotted around implies some sort of commitment to the cause. The locals are friendly enough as was the service and although it might not be the envy of the Fens, it serves the local community well enough.
