If arriving in Dartford by train with an urgent need for liquid refreshment, the Stage Door is handily located only a couple of minutes walk towards the town centre. For us it provided a spot to recover from the revelation that Ann Widdecombe is to appear in pantomime at the nearby Orchard Theatre. Maybe her picture will one day join the many photos of "celebrities" which adorn the pub's walls, but luckily there didn't appear to be one there yet to spoil our enjoyable pint of Whitstable Bay. Most of the seating is at the front of the pub, with a row of booths lining the wall to the far right (not politically) as you head to the back where an unexpectedly large garden awaits. Basically it's a good solid pub that exceeded our initial expectations.
