This is a cracking new Micro Pub recently opened in Deal and is like a step back in time. It boasts of having NO jukebox, TV or games machines, although there is however, a selection of mobile phones that have actually been nailed to the wall with 6 inch nails (which may give you a clue on their mobile phone policy).
On entering at first I was somewhat confused by there being no bar, hand pumps or barrels, but we were soon approached by the manager with a list of four locally brewed beers and two ciders. On taking our order, he went into a seperate room which you could see through a small window, and dispensed our drinks from barrels lined up on a long serving shelf, and brought them out to us. I tried the local Gadds Bitter which was excellent and all beers were reasonably priced at around £3 a pint.
They do not serve food, except for crisps and a selection of local cheeses which can be purchased as snacks, and nor do they serve any spirits or lager, but they will serve tap water at no cost or a small selection of non-alcoholic drinks can be purchased. They can also supply flasks for a beer take-away sevice. This is an excellent pub which I would recommend to anyone wanting a traditional pint in traditional surroundings. They do have limited opening hours though so it is worth checking their website before visiting.
