Like many out-of-the-way pubs, the Lancaster Arms has set itself up as a food orientated pub. Saying that, it's run by local brewer Everards, who usually turn out reasonable pubs and consequently it's not terrible here, by any means. There's plenty of good ales, a nice beer garden and a traditional feel to this large pub. Nonetheless, a fair portion of the pub has been set up to cater for diners, some of whom were spilling out into the bar area on our Sunday visit, making the place feel somewhat transitory. The majority of people visiting were here for the popular Sunday carvery, which was both tasty and good value. We're wavering between a two and three pint rating for this one - it was competent in every area, but isn't somewhere we'll rush back to; for the time being we shall err on the side of generosity.

How to find the Lancaster Arms pub

Despite being on Station Road, there is no train station nearby, as Desford lost theirs in 1964 (thanks, Dr Beeching). Desford however is on the B582, directly west of Leicester and closeish to junctions 21 and 22 of the M1.
