Tyneside Tavern, Dirleton
FancyaPint?'s review...
As the name suggests, this sits near the river, with the mill and church nearby too. Despite conspicuous bumf from the pub company marketing team, this doesn't feel too much like a chain pub, and had a friendly lively atmosphere. When we were in, the telly was showing the golf, but the locals were mostly getting on with a blether, and most seemed to know each other. The pubs sports a good well kept range of ales, including Directors, Deuchars and a Wadworth summer special. They have the usual S&N keg beers including Fosters, Smiths, McEwans, Kronenburg and Strongbow. The bar is divided into two, where the public bar was the obvious choice, as the lounge bar appears only to cater for diners and decor wise, bit odd looking. If there is no discernible summer warmth, enjoy the real fire. A good boozer, though maybe not one you'll go well out of the way for.
