We've visited the Star a lot since manager Ian took over some years ago and he's turned the pub into something of a gem. The two pump ales that he has are well kept and the service is friendly, with the regulars also being an amiable bunch. Around the walls you'll find everything from accordions to vintage televisions, artwork by local artists and a notice board where local bands can pin their cards or advertise for vacancies. Indeed, there are open mic nights here where you can play or do whatever you wish for 10-15 minutes. There's an old upright piano, black and white movie nights, drama evenings, a fabulous monthly quiz, vinyl nights and much more, it's even had its own Christmas panto in the past. If this wasn't enough, the landlord has his own recording studio upstairs. But these things don't get in the way of it operating as it is supposed to - as a boozer (the landlord will supply you with plates, knives and forks if you want to order out for a takeaway). Outside on the pavement is a good number of cafe-style tables and chairs. This pub's popularity is relative to the amount of effort the landlord puts into the place. One of Dorking's best pubs by a million miles.

Located on Dorking's one-way system at the junction with Station Road and South Street. A cab journey from the Mainline and Deepdene railway stations but a short walk from Dorking West.
