John Kavanagh, Dublin
FancyaPint?'s review...
Kavanagh's is a fine place situated a twenty-minute walk from central Dublin. Arriving at midday, we found the place packed with happy locals enjoying lunch and a drink. The food is simple - pasta, soup, toasties - but tasty and reasonably priced. Table service is on offer and excellently managed by the friendly staff - be prepared to share your table at busier times too. A pitching wedge from Glasnevin Cemetery, Ireland's largest and most historic resting place - O'Connell, Brendan Behan, Parnell, Casement, de Valera and Michael Collins are interred there - Kavanagh's is also known as the Gravediggers for obvious reasons. If you need another excuse to visit Kavanagh's, the splendid National Botanic Gardens are also nearby.

How to find the John Kavanagh pub
From the north end of O'Connell St, walk straight up Church St and keep going as it changes into Constitution Hill, Phibsborough Road, crossing the North Circular, then Prospect Rd and finally Botanic Rd. Turn left into St Teresa's Rd and you'll find the pub in Prospect Square. A twenty-minute walk, all told. Alternatively, save shoe leather and take one of several buses to Glasnevin.
