The present building dates from 1895 and the Stag's Head is a beautiful late Victorian pub. With marble columns framing the exterior, you pass through wooden doors into a subdued space of dark wood, stained glass windows, mirrors, lamps and chandeliers. If you've ever fancied having a pint in a church, this place is as near as you'll find. It's a great pub to disappear into, perfect for a quiet pint with the newspaper. Should hunger master you, soup and sandwiches are available.
