The Shore Inn, East Wittering
A seaside pub, almost on the beach, the Shore has upped its game in recent years and has moved from being just a lively local boozer to a family friendly focal point for the holiday trade. Its refurbishment of a few years back provided new family areas, disabled facilities and an improved outdoor area. The essentials of the old Shore were thankfully kept in place, however, and the street-side bar retains its slightly boisterous come-one-come-all atmosphere. The locals, with whom it remains exceedingly popular, are a very friendly bunch and keep up a level of banter with each other, and with the staff, that has more wit than most of what passes as comedy on TV or radio. However busy the pub gets, the staff seem to cope with efficiency and good humour. Being a free house, the Shore usually has a range of bitters on offer, all in good order. Its food offers too are comprehensive and good value. So, whether you're just off the beach for a quick thirst quencher, or you want somewhere to feed the kids while you sit and enjoy a quiet drink, the Shore is always worth a visit.
