The Thatch sits in apparent splendid isolation on the bend of one of the country lanes into East Wittering. Behind the neighbouring trees and hidden from view, however, is a holiday caravan park and to cater for summer visitors there's a large family friendly recreational area. Inside, the Thatch is a cosy country pub: very much a local for the Wittering folk but also quite welcoming for visitors. It can get quite a busy lunchtime trade as it offers very reasonable food. There are usually a couple of decent bitters on and they're kept and served well enough. The mix of families, visitors and locals ensures an interesting flow of people dropping in and out of the pub and it is very pleasant on a summer afternoon to sit out front and watch the world go slowly by.
