For miles around, the Blue Lion is deservedly famous for food, drink and hospitality. Once an 18th Century coaching inn in a quiet village, it's now an upmarket hotel and restaurant, offering a high quality selection of beers, wines and locally-produced food. The pub's plain(ish) exterior hides a lovely olde worlde interior - with plenty of dark wood, simple wooden tables and chairs and a roaring fire in each of the two bars. The service is polite and attentive, the atmosphere, relaxed and inviting. After a hearty meal of rather good local fare, accompanied by some fine regional ales, it's difficult to imagine anything better. All in all, the Blue Lion is a cosy, satisfying place to be on a cold winters day (and we've had a few of those lately).
