The Old Eden is indeed an old pub - a timber-framed building dating from sometime around the 16th Century - and befitting its traditional roots it's a welcoming, traditional local. There's excellent real ale on the hand pumps, mostly from the nearby Westerham Brewery, who brew Old Eden bitter especially for this pub, as well as guest ales (Harvey's last time we were in). Naturally, there's the usual range of gas-propelled beers, lagers, cider etc and a few decent wines, should you not be tempted by the local brews. Once upon a time the Old Eden was probably not a pub you'd choose to frequent, but since the current landlord took over the place a few years ago, it's improved immensely. In addition to upgrading the ales, the place is now well-run and well-maintained - service is fast, polite and welcoming and the food much improved. There's a large, pleasant beer garden out back - just in case we have a summer - where children are welcome. All-in-all the Old Eden is an excellent traditional pub, every village should have one.
