Halfway House, Edinburgh
FancyaPint?'s review...
Famous but titchy real ale bar down a close from the Royal Mile. because of its size, it doesn't take much to fill it up. Calling itself "Edinburgh's smallest and friendliest pub, the Halfway House does traditional Scottish food and there are four decent pumps on the bar, all with local or otherwise Scottish beers; it was CAMRA's pub of the year in Edinburgh 2009. Afraid we'd have to call this one a "hidden gem" as it's unlikely you'll stumble across it on your own. When we were last in, the group of regulars at the bar were analysing the commercials on the telly - well, it made us laugh! Go on, give it a go it's dead good!
