The Dome, Edinburgh
FancyaPint?'s review...
Situated in a grand Victorian bank, the Dome's prime attraction is its lavish interior and for many visiting here, that's enough. There's plenty on offer, eating, drinking, private functions, even weddings, but there's not a huge amount for the avid pub fan. If you're not here for a specific event, chances are you'll be here to admire the opulent interior - a skilfully blended mix of Victorian and Deco elements, topped by the eponymous dome, creating an airy and sophisticated atmosphere. The drink and food on offer are indeed priced to match the extravagant surroundings, but we feel that the fare is not that extraordinary. When we're in these parts, we usually pop in here for a swift glass of something and pause to admire the interior once again and then we move on. The Dome has one of the most impressive interiors of any drinking establishment we've encountered, unfortunately the drinking experience doesn't quite live up to it.
