A bit more bar than trad pub, the Royal Mile does a decent job. It's comfortable, friendly, and well situated on Royal Mile - although it's right next door to the Mitre, one wonders how they both manage, but there's probably enough passing traffic to sustain both. Well, you definitely could do worse and the whisky selection's nothing to sniff at either. Oh, and there's live music every night.
