In these increasingly competitive times, sometimes you need that little bit extra to lure in the punters. In our travels we've seen lots of creative ideas: bouncy castles for kids, philosophy nights and wine tastings are just three examples which spring to mind. We've never, ever seen a bar with it's own onsite hairdressers however. Speakeasy is a cafe bar rather than a pub, but it still took us by surprise. From the bar side of things, it's a pretty laid back sort of place, with a standard range of beers supplemented by a reasonable cocktail list and a selection of sandwiches and baguettes. If having a tuppenny-all-off, or some highlights in your local bar wasn't enough, you could also come along on Tuesday evenings for massages and reiki. At other times they have a fair range of musically inspired evening, with various DJs and live music on different days. While it may not be entirely our cup of tea, it certainly suits Epping very well and we have to give 10 out of 10 for effort, as well as a pretty decent three pint rating overall.

Exit from Epping tube and turn left onto Station Road. At the end on the road, turn right onto the High Street and the pub will be very shortly on the left.
