This is one of those pubs whose exterior and interior seem fundamentally mismatched, in that one is much more attractive than the other. Sadly for the Three Tuns (which is also a B&B), it's the wrong way round: the welcoming facade belies a spartan interior. It's like how you would envisage a rough-and-ready working men's club: sparse decor, emulsion-painted walls, pool table as focal point, torn black leather seats slowly shedding their filling of yellow sponge, and a public bar which, though quite long, has a rudimentary "choice" of beer (mostly lager of the Carlsberg and Stella variety). Having said all that, it has an understated charm to it: there's no boisterousness, no choreographed stare whenever a non-local walks in, and the bar staff are polite and helpful. And, as a totally gratuitous aside, the chinese takeaway a few doors down has the most extensive menu we have ever seen.

I have to say, that we popped into 'The Three Tuns'for a quick drink and to check the menu out for lunch.

However it only took us a few minutes after ordering our drinks for all of us to realise that there was no way we would be eating there.

The seats were all torn, the glass door to the gents smashed and the place smelt of something similar to stink bombs..!!!.

Although the people were pleasant, we drank our drinks and left .

It's a shame as the outside was very inviting, but inside not so.
