Situated on the main road running through Fownhope, the New Inn is dwarfed by the Green Man next door and could easily be missed by the weary traveller. But never mind, because this free house is home to a more local crowd, who are quite aware of how to find it, and negotiate their way back home after a few ales. There is usually a gaggle of regulars around the bar, though there are also two small seating areas if you fancy a more private natter. A covered smoking area just outside the front door provides shelter against the British weather, which seems to become more unpredictable every year. If summer makes an appearance there are a few picnic tables dotted about on the raised grass area at the front. Visitors are just as welcome in this pub, which has two ales, Stowford Press cider and a cheap, filling lunch menu Monday-Friday. It's what a local should be.
