One terminal, three Wetherspoon brands to choose from. Or as we like to put it, a rock, a hard place... and another rock. You can look at the planes trundling about while wondering if you look a bit like a terrorist after the bar manager wanted to see your boarding pass but not the person next to you. A croissant which looked airline food made big (still wrapped in plastic) and sticky, uncleared tables made this a wholesomely crap way to begin a holiday. Even the Bloody Mary couldn't numb the pain. Our lament was that Wetherspoons had managed to sort themselves a monopoly at Gatwick's North Terminal, while we longed for an airport pub run by Geronimo Inns - the kind of place you don't feel the urge to silently weep into your watery coffee.
