This pub is situated around 100 yards from the away turnstiles at Gillingham FC's KRBS Priestfield Stadium, and is the designated "away" pub on matchdays. That's not to say that home supporters don't visit and mingle freely as well. It's relatively pleasant as football pubs go - naturally, it gets busy, but the bar staff have got the knack of turning orders around very quickly (although it is strictly plastic pint glasses on matchdays), and they lay on free food for the fans too. The beer is as you would expect for a football pub - ubiquitous lager, John Smiths, Guinness and not much else. The most striking feature is a wealth of football shirts which are attached to the ceiling, and a very decent selection they have too. There was a distinct lack of yobbishness on our visit, which came as a pleasant surprise given the somewhat unsavoury reputation the town has to bear. Overall, a pleasant place for a pre- or post-match pint.

How to find the Livingstone Arms pub

From Gillingham railway station, turn left onto the A231 (Balmoral Road), then right onto Duncan Road and left onto Franklin Road. Finally, turn right onto Gillingham Road. The pub is very close to the away end of the football ground.
