The Counting House, Glasgow
FancyaPint?'s review...
Right on George Square in the old Royal Bank of Scotland building, this pub could and should be magnificent. Instead, this is a rather down-at-heel place, where the grandeur of a fine Victorian building is soon forgotten. How they do it, we can't really figure out. Maybe it was the woefully slack service. Maybe having a huge room but somehow providing inadequate seating (even for a mid-afternoon snifter) gets to everyone. Perhaps the carpet is to blame. Whatever it is, if rock bottom prices on a good range of real ales is not enough to keep you happy, you might find yourself as po-faced as most of the clientele who put up with this. Even the food looked depressed.
