We've certainly seen this one go through a few phases. These days, this big old place is decked out like any other run of the mill modern pub come bar. It's a bit sad to see one that once really made its mark to have gradually dropped into the uninspiring category, each refurb stripping one or other of its specialities away each time. Still, at least it 's not been totally lost by the pits of a mundane chain group like the Queens Head and the Royal Oak have, which also occupy the area of Green St. Green. In fact it is still a free house. It has a large pleasant garden, but you'd except this from a pub that sits fairly reasonably within the borders of Kent - 'The Garden of England'! It's also, however, rather annoyingly taken up with children's play equipment. Families and young children largely make up the clientele, especially at weekends. In its favour both the drinks and the food selection are more than adequate, brought to you with a pretty fine service.
