Like a phoenix the Rose & Crown has risen again. Having reopened in late July, this quaint little pub has been saved and has received a new lease of life from it's new Antipodean owners. At the bar are some fine cask ales from breweries near (Tring Brewery) and far (recently Rudgate Brewery, North Yorks), a good wine list plus the usual suspects (lager, soft drinks etc.). A good, well-priced menu provides English pub classics done very well, not too fussy and not lacking quality at all. It was great to see that nearly all the ingredients are sourced from local farms to compliment the local beer. The whole package is wrapped up within the small but well proportioned original building from the 1600's. The interior has undergone a tasteful and in vogue pub refurbishment. The clean "recently done" feel has possibly taken away some of the original character but the retained open fire and the march of time should soften that edge. A couple of seats at the front and a little outside area to the rear are perfect for the summer sun whilst the warm welcome is ideal for the dark winter ahead.

How to find the The Rose & Crown pub

Ivinghoe isn't very big, so with the Church at your back, turn right and head up Church Road until you reach Vicarage Lane on the left. The pub should be just ahead on the right.
