We chanced upon this friendly country pub when we were driving aimlessly around Kent one afternoon, and we're glad that we did. The cosy main bar was busy with punters and the restaurant section was doing a brisk service. Had it not been raining we would have been out in the massive garden where a marquee had been erected for a beer festival (although it hadn't started, more's the shame). There's also a play area to keep the kids entertained. The restaurant does a really strong line in fish so we tucked into some halibut. Plenty on the plate, very tasty and OK value (around the £10 mark for a main). Being out in the sticks, this is one of those pubs that you're going to need to drive to (or ask someone else nicely) but it's worth it. The staff are all very friendly and they know how to keep a good ale cool. We had the Doom Bar on our last visit. Top marks.
