Old Horse, Leicester
FancyaPint?'s review...
Life is full of surprises, which like the Old Horse is definitely a good thing. This well-maintained pub, overlooking Victoria Park, looks pleasant from the front and continues to make a good impression as you enter through the front door. Many pots and other ornaments hang down from the beams to add character, and because of its size there is usually a good chance of finding a seat. Owned by Everards, it has a selection of their ales, and usually some evidence of proper cider (i.e not to be diluted with ice). It is, though, the space at the back of the building which comes as an unexpected treat. To reach the beer garden you first pass through a small courtyard area, which has hosted a menagerie of animals and birds over the years (now owls), and on to a space big enough to accommodate a small housing estate. Two rows of picnic tables are split by a central path, with a Tardis also making an appearance.
