The Western, Leicester
FancyaPint?'s review...
The Western is one of a small number of pubs run by the Steamin' Billy Brewery, with this one just around the corner from the student heavy Braunstone Gate area. Being run by the Steamin' Billy Brewery, it's no surprise to find their own rather good ales on offer. There's a traditional two room layout, but the decor is rather bland, in that way that pubs sometimes attempt to modernise themselves without thinking it through carefully. In the end, with it's stripy upholstered furniture and light colours it looks like an advert for Ikea. The old brewerania signs do add a touch of individuality, though. Still, it's a friendly place with a relaxed ambience, cheap food and good music. Like certain other pubs in the area it can get very busy before/after matches (either the football or the rugby), so plan ahead if that's not your scene.

This traditional ale pub offers the finest quality cask ales, changing on a weekly basis so you'll never get bored. We offer good food at better prices, drinks offers to rival the biggest student bars and weekly events such as Sunday Quiz Night and Thursday Steak Night. You won't find a warmer atmosphere anywhere around, and The Western holds regular festivals to celebrate quality ciders, perries and ales and even cheese!
