Formerly a fine example of a Parlour pub, i.e. the beer is kept in one room and drunk in the 'parlour', this was a contender for the smallest pub in Britain. Originally licensed somehere between 1861 and 1871, the pub was run by teetotal Flossie until her death in 2009. Flossie is famous for her hospitality and sharp tongue - she famously replied "Jimmy Cagney" when asked if she knew who Jeremy Paxman was when he made the pilgrimage to her pub! It was taken over by two enterprising locals (and regulars) who've managed to get the pub Grade II listed status and have added another room to the pub to expand its capacity. Just to prove the point of its importance, CAMRA made it No. 1 on its list of exceptional historic pub interiors recently. We'll have to get along to try it out. Maybe for the beer festival at the end of August...
