London Colney has a disproportionate amount of pubs (albeit two are earmarked for redevelopment) and an equally disproportionate number resplendent with tattered, grubby England flags draped somewhere about the premises. These two facts notwithstanding, the Bull is probably the best place for a drink in the area. A rather small place, sat next to a river, it still has two separate, cosy bars, with small windows, wooden beams and low ceilings present. Add a (tiny) pool table, a charming back garden and a kiddies play area and this is certainly becomes an inviting pub. They've done their best to keep up with various trends, so there's free WiFi and olives behind the bar, but they also encourage a lot of local participation, with teams for the darts, pool and football, as well as a monthly jazz night. With amenable locals and a couple of well-kept ales (including one from the nearby Tring brewery) you're onto a winner here.
