From the outside, this looks like any traditional pub, but go in and it's all gone a bit more upmarket, and the new owners seem to be making a good go of it. It was pretty busy on a Friday lunchtime, and it's no surprise, as the food's good and pretty inexpensive, with most items on the menu under £4. It's a slightly strange Indian/Chinese mix, but that's apparently down to the new owners being Chinese and Indian. It's not a bad thing, and although there's more emphasis on wine and cocktails, the one ale on tap was very well kept, and it appears there is something to just about suit everyone. There's a beer garden out the back - including a heated shisha lounge - and lots of comfy leather sofas inside complimented by decent artwork. Judging from the tellys sprinkled around the place it shows a lot of sport, and we suspect it gets busier in the evenings, with those young things taking advantage of the cocktail menu. It's early days yet, but the signs are all good for this one.

It has been one year Aja Lounge (formerly Crown & Pepper) has been open and I think it has been one of the best thing which has happened to the South London Asian comuunity. You have botth world of Asian food delights, I would recommed Aja Lounge to everyone who love their food and who like to be treated well. The owners and the staff both are always happy and ready to help and suggest what to eat. The food is fantastic.

Good luck to Aja Lounge for th future.

This is a great pub. Not from the point of view of the variety of real ales, certainly. But in terms of a really friendly staff, atmosphere and good food, its top notch.

It is indeed more than welcome to find ethnic minorities being represented in pub landlordship- especially if the pubs are as well run as this.
