Amersham Arms, New Cross
FancyaPint?'s review...
With Goldsmiths College nearby it's not surprising that some pubs in the area aim to attract a younger crowd. The Amersham Arms is such a place, with an interior that would best be described as shabby chic. It's a very decent pub though, with a wood-panelled bar area out front and a room out back for live music and events. Some of the tables are bass bins, a retro-style pinboard advertises cocktails and service is laid-back and friendly. A couple of well-kept real ales on tap and some very well-priced food should keep students and locals alike coming back for more. It's a shame that the bar billiards table wasn't in use on our visit.

Savage dive. Moody, seemingly hungover and depressed barstaff serving overpriced and disappointing food backed up by a fiercely defensive, rude manager. The toilets are repulsive too. Would rather not go back here.

Don't forget to add the WIFI icon on this pub. Service was great, we went on Sunday for a roast, not on the menu, but the food we ordered was delivered fast and good. A complementary bloody mary shot ensured we would return to this cool pub. I can be bribed!
