The old Barley Mow was a rather edgy boozer, full of flashy one-armed bandits and sullen drinkers. Out of kilter with the genteel surroundings of Turnham Green, it was no surprise that it would eventually succumb to a refurbishment. Thankfully, however, it resisted the prevailing W4 fashion of going all gastro. Without the chav-attracting pool tables, this has become a pleasantly decorated pub serving reasonably priced food, beer and wine to the locals. The building arcs around some shops in front and is consequently larger than one might initially imagine. This design however means that it's rather gloomy in the middle where the bar is located, due to the lack of natural light. Still, it's comfortable enough and a nice beer garden is proving popular. A couple of ales and enthusiastic service make this a perfectly good - although hardly outstanding - watering hole.
