Belsize, Hampstead

last rating:
Agreeable and vaguely old-fashioned boozer that does gastropub food without being unnecessarily pretentious. A wide range of drinks (beers, wines and spirits) complement a relaxed, comfortable ambience. The more intimate dining only area at the back sadly takes up two-thirds of the floor space, leaving drinkers in the chandelier-lit front bar, but both are pleasant enough places to while away the time. Apparently one of the many North London places to go C-list celeb spotting (if that's your thing) and it has the advantage of being open till midnight Mon-Sat, and till 11.30pm on Suns
Replaced by a upmarket and vaguely trendy pan-Asian restaurant.
