Bier Rex, St. Paul's

A specialist in imported beers, this independent pub/café tries hard to emulate continental café bars/brasseries. A bit formulaic, but the bottled beers are excellent. They have frequent guest beers and specials. There are two or three of the usual boring lagers and generic beers if you're too scared to try the continental stuff. Hoegarden is on tap, and Bier Rex shines in the 6-8% imports. Lots of trappist biers, mostly German, Belgian and French. The Chimay White was particularly nice. Surprisingly unpopular for a pub located in the heart of the City.
sadly long gone, now a restuarant
