Birkbeck, Leyton
FancyaPint?'s review...
This imposing local's pub hasn't really changed much since we started going here almost a decade ago, which is no bad thing. Made up of a large public bar and a smaller room at the front with a pool table, it's a decent pub. It still sells "Rita's Special", a bitter named after a previous landlady, apparently, as well as a rotating line-up of guest beers which don't stick around very long. The local darts team meets here, as evidenced by the trophies in the cabinet over the door to the front bar. One of the dart boards is placed near the doorway to the large, kid-friendly, beer garden, and requires good timing to get outside if there's a game on. Populated by friendly locals and genial bar staff, it's got a lot going for it. Now, if they only did Sunday lunch...
