On the face of it, this pub has a lot going for it. Close to the middle of Kingston, on the river, and sporting an upstairs bar with fine views. Sadly, it's a slight disappointment. Riverside it may be, but with its studied interior it's got more in common with the neighbouring café bars than with a traditional pub. The usual range of Young's food and drink are on offer, but the place just lacks atmosphere. Imagine a Cafe Rouge selling beer and you're pretty much there.

From Kingston BR station: Exit station cross road and take the right turn off the roundabout (Fife Road). Follow Fife Road as it takes you onto Clarence Street next to the shopping centre. Head down Clarence Street as far as the car park, turning left onto Thames Street then right onto Bishops Hall.
