An omission on our part for a while now, the Black Cap is Camden's main gay and lesbian bar. With two distinct areas, it offers both a pub and a club. Upstairs is the Shufflewick Bar, which is the pubby bit of the venue, leading onto an impressive flower adorned roof terrace, which looks to be a real sun trap when the weather permits. It is a comfortable place, relatively traditional in look and open all day serving a generic selection of lager alongside some pretty cheap food. Downstairs on the other hand, is the lively and fun club venue. Dark and sultry, it plays host to music every night of the week and is open into the wee hours. As such, expect a small entry charge after 10pm. Service was a mixed bag, as were the clientele, with both the friendly and charmless in equal proportion.
