Blue Anchor, Fleet Street
FancyaPint?'s review...
Newly reopened after a fire, we looked hard but we couldn't honestly see anything outrageously different. Okay, the downstairs bar/restaurant is now called 'The Catch' - and the seafood is good (the fish and chips is worth a go). And there is more emphasis on food all round, with all the tables downstairs set for lunch when we were in last. The staff are welcoming and very efficient, there's two regular ales on the taps (Greene King IPA and London Pride) and rumours of a guest beer on the third tap, but no sign on our visit. There's loads going on from Jazz nights to karaoke, quiz night on Tuesday and board games on Monday. We have to say they're doing lots right and from the reactions of the punters, we're not the only ones who think so. Worth a visit if you're in the area.
