Although not the finest pub around London Bridge and Borough (and there are quite a few really great pubs round here), the Blue Eyed Maid does what it does pretty well, and would probably warrant a visit were you in the area. The unique selling point of this pub, compared with its more historic and atmospheric rivals, is the presence of a (pretty good) Indian restaurant on the premises, upstairs; while both the restaurant menu and traditional English bar food is served in the pub area. There were three, notably, well-kept, real ales (an IPA, Landlord and Old Speckled Hen) on the hand pumps last time we were here. There are screens to watch football on, and much of the seating is hard-backed, vaguely severe (but fashionable) wooden seats, but the staff are friendly and welcoming.
