Boston Arms, Tufnell Park
FancyaPint?'s review...
What with the stately exterior and it's position next to the former Dirty Water Club next door, we've always expected more from the Boston Arms. Perhaps that tower on the outside promised too much, but we thought there would be an inkling of that grandeur inside. Alas, much of the décor seems to have been stripped away, leaving an interior not unlike that of a large Social Club - the cry of the bingo caller never seems too far away. Still, the punters seem happy enough with the entertainment on offer: giant TV screens fill the perspective but a pool table - and two tucked away dart boards, suggesting a pub that takes its games seriously (and one look at the packed trophy cabinet proves it). Like most Irish bars, the closest it gets to real ale is Guinness and John Smiths behind the bar but the cheap and filling food really hits the spot.
